In my name

Posted by kifo on September 25th, 2008

There has been some unhappiness expressed with the Process Art Project. A few complained about having to spend so much. A few complained about having their ideas rejected. A few complained about the project being too difficult. A few complained about having to take down their work.

As the project title suggest, it is the Process that counts. Different ideas and projects will have different processes. And it is not just about the process of doing, but I think we should all focus on the process of THINKING, both linearly and visually. This is probably the main reason why some projects are accepted, while others are not.

Real Art is more than looking pretty and nice. It is more than a pretty face or a pretty message. Its only legitimate goal is to shock the audience, unsettle people, make them think, make real changes to the world. Anything else is pure decoration.

What would you do if you want to make a message in your name?

The Resident Tourist

I just spent the past three hours glued to my monitor reading an online comic by our local comic artist, Troy Chin. His 3 part series, The Resident Tourist, is an authentic, heartfelt and totally Singaporean exploration of what it means to be living on this tiny red dot. I recommend everyone to read it now.

Xpressivo Art Exhibition

Please come!! Just outside the Secondary Library!

P.S. Now for something totally random, M1 has come down and installed their signal repeaters in the staffroom! We are transformed from a mobile desert into a signal paradise! So now I have a repeater right on top of my cubicle, full bar for my reception and loads of radiation to kill my brain cells. Yay!
