Apparently Jennifer is having problems taking snapshot with her laptop and the DVD software she has.

I uses WinDVD at home and Cyberlink DVD player on the school laptop and they both can take snapshots without any problem. These are the 2 most common and popular DVD playing software I know of at the moment.

In anycase, there is a FREE software that can play DVD and take snapshots. Video Lan Client. Go download it if you have no other choice.

    http://www.videolan.org/

To take snapshots, you have to use a command key as the interface is very basic and there are no buttons you can press anywhere. I took this information from their FAQ.

1.10.    How can I take screenshots?

To take a snapshot of the video displayed by VLC, you just need to press the pre-defined snapshot hotkey:

        *Windows / Linux / Unix: Ctrl-Alt-s
        *Mac OS X: Command-Alt-s

To change it, go to Preferences -> Interface -> Hotkeys settings, check Advanced options, and set Take video snapshot.

    1.11.    Where are my screenshots?

If you haven't changed the snapshot directory in your preferences, your screenshots should go to:

        *Windows: My Documents\My Pictures\
        *Linux / Unix: $(HOME)/.vlc/
        *Mac OS X: Desktop/

To change it, go to Preferences -> Video -> Video snapshot directory.
